Open Source Idea #6

a Clap-On statue. cover the statue in small lights attached to individual sound sensors like the ones in Clap-Ons. As you clap some will turn on others will stay off. clap again and they will all change again. I wonder how it would react to applause.

Open Source Idea #5

accumulate objects from your life.
measure their length width and hight
collect enough so that when you add them all together you get an accumulated total equal to that of Noah's Ark. (the measurements are given in the bible and converted on the internet)
maybe they could all be displayed via photography, or in a pile?

Open Source Idea #4

I think that it would be be cool to permanently install an Etcha-Sketch on a city bus or metro car.

Open Source Idea #3

An exhibition space or work built on sand. Perhaps it could be built out of drift wood and constructed on the beach. A touch too metaphorical maybe. It has a nice reference to the catholic church though, if someone were interested in critiquing or discussing that kind of thing.

Open Source Idea #2

It might be fun to make a candy pile similar to that of Felix Gonzalez-Torres by accumulating the free candy from the candy bowls at local businesses, restaurants, clinics, etc.
I think there is some interesting discourse it could generate.

Open Source Idea #1

An open source ideas blog that would have the email to sign into the blog at the bottom of the page (as well as the password). Or an open source ideas Twitter. No one has room in their head, agenda, or wallet for every single idea they generate, be it art related or otherwise. No one has an idea for every single assignment that gets assigned either. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a decent place to look where one can share, be inspired by, build upon, etc. their ideas and the ideas of their peers?

I'm primarily thinking about sharing ideas for artworks, however an open source ideas blog could function within any field. I think that the definition of an "idea" should be limited to something resembling a proposal, rather than ponderings or thoughts that flourish about on twitter and the like. It would be nice if the blog/twitter was anonymous and "judgement free" but that would just be hard to control.

It might be worth trying out.
